Worn by Jean Harlow in a publicity photo.
Harlean Carpentier was born in Kansas City on March 3, 1911. At 16 she ran away from home and married a young businessman headed for Los Angeles. Although the marriage ended soon after, she landed small parts in several short films that led to her first big break. Howard Hughes was doing a remake of his WWI epic, HELL'S ANGELS and offered her a role. Her next film, PLATINUM BLONDE, was just what the doctor ordered. It catapulted her to stardom and gave the world the original "blonde bombshell". Jean Harlow died too soon for all of us but left an indelible mark on Hollywood and the world with her sultry looks and screen magnetism. In a publicity photo Ms. Harlow wore this classic diamond ring.
