In the 1940 film, Escape (MGM), Norma Shearer starred as the wife of a German concentration camp commander--the film told of the horrors of Nazi Germany. In the film, Robert Taylor portrayed an American trying to help his mother escape. Eventually, Ms Shearer took sympathy for Taylor's struggles and helped the Americans escape. The film infuriated Hitler--he threatened to ban all MGM films from Germany. In the movie, Miss Shearer wears a classically-designed ring using emerald and trillion-cut stones.
