Marlene Dietrich began her career at age 17 playing the violin in an orchestra that accompanied silent films in a movie theater.  She was fired 4 weeks later because her legs were a distraction to the older musicians.  She took those legs to the theater and joined a chorus line...the rest is history.  In a publicity photo, she is seen wearing a stunning blue ring.
